Materials Manager

As a member of the Operations management team the Materials Manager is part of the Production Control Team. You will be responsible for the day to day activities of the Production Control Team. . The Manager ensures availability of all raw materials required for production internally.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

●  Drive improvements in the production process using Lean manufacturing techniques

●  Plan, direct and control the movement and transaction of materials and products in the plant to successfully meet production schedules

●  Identify, communicate and resolve any conditions that could cause production delays

●  Establish and prioritize work schedules and co-ordinate activities with other work units or departments to meet production schedules

●  Plan and coordinate material required for new product launches

●  Prepare or oversee the preparation of reports and statistics related to accuracy of company inventories

●  Assign and review the work of staff engaged in the following duties: shipping, receiving, storing, distributing and maintaining inventories of materials, parts and products; processing transactions; coordinating production work; performing cycle counts.

●  Ensure the integrity of finished goods in stock

●  Coordinate training of employees in job duties, safety procedures and company policies. Mentor and guide development of people

●  Hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff



Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

●  Post-secondary or equivalent on the job experience

●  APICS certification or equivalent

●  Minimum 5 years of management or supervisory experience in a Lean manufacturing environment          Production Control focus

●  Expert level experience in an ERP environment

●  Knowledge of WHMIS and hazardous goods procedures

●  Strong written and verbal communication skills

 Working knowledge of MS Office.
